User Opinions

These boots were purchased for my son who is in the military and is scheduled to be in Afghanistan during the high heat of summer there. He said they were extremely comfortable, lightweight and very supportive. Due to military dress code, he had to black out with marker Merrell's signature logo and name on the boots. My son't general consensus on these boots is that they are perfect for a soldier standing on his feet all day, or running for shelter.

These boots have been incredible for two years now. I wear them daily to paint in, so I'm on my feet all day, and they don't bother me one bit. The waterproofing is exceptional, the only time my feet get wet is when pressure washing, or if I step into a puddle deeper than the boot. I've only had two problems with them. First, the laces never wanted to stay tied. I found a pair at Wal-Mart that seem to have a slightly waxy or stickiness to them, and only wish I'd found them at the start, because it made the boots work right. Second, the strap you put the laces through to snug your heel into the boot heel just doesn't seem to hold up. I wish they had made that stronger, because I hate to spend $140 bucks on a new pair that otherwise is in great condition. They look terrible now from all the paint drips and overspray, but the boots have held up to everything I've thrown at them with the exception of the lace holder.

I had never had a pair of this brand before I bought these, I did not know what to expect or if i would ever find a comfortable pair of boots that last. I wear these boots 6 and sometimes 7 days a week, rain snow or shine, i constantly climb roofs, work with masonry, operate machinery, walk in muddy areas, stand on cold concrete and hot asphalt, anything you can thing of i pit these boots through. I have torn through countless pairs of redwings, timberland "pro's", cabelas, saloman, and many other brands which normally have a lifetime of 8-12 months. I've had this pair for almost two years now. The toe is a synthetic material and does not rub off, rip, or become deformed in any way, shape, or form. I treat the leather weekly with obaneufs lp, leather oil, and water shield after brushing the dirt off, the leather had not ripped, dried out, cracked, or become stiff, it has contoured to my feet since day one. The sole is sturdy and firmly attached to the boot, with no signs of separation. Despite working with caustic masonry it has had no effect on the boots contrary to the results of my other boots. The waterproof capability of the boots actually works and works well. The laces stay tight and have not torn or ripped. These boots are more comfortable than my sneakers, I prefer to wear them over anything else. If your thinking about buying these, DO IT. They may be a little pricey but they will last forever, especially if you keep them oiled. All and all if you want a pair of comfortable, durable, waterproof, work/hiking/all around boots look no further.
